Fuelling Customer Mission: FAME Flexible Learning Centre, South Australia

On 28 November 2024, FAME Flexible Learning Centre in South Australia marked a major milestone with the opening of its first purpose-built campus – a significant step forward for both the school and its wider community. The project, supported by the ADF, represents an important investment in the future of the young people FAME serves. 

Situated on McKinna Road in Christie Downs, the new facility finally provides FAME with a permanent home. Previously, the school had been spread across several leased sites to keep up with growing enrolments and increasing demand for its programs. 

Designed with input from staff and students, the new campus features six flexible learning areas, a music and recording studio, a commercial training kitchen, a café-style community hub, a technology centre, and dedicated staff and wellbeing spaces. These purpose-built facilities have allowed FAME to grow its enrolment to 140 students and further strengthen its support programs, from individual learning plans and wellbeing initiatives to practical pathways into employment or further study. 

“This milestone is a testament to what can be achieved when we invest in community. FAME’s new campus provides a safe environment where young people can learn, grow, and build a future filled with possibility,” said Relationship Manager, Liz Sherratt. 

The impact of the new campus is already evident. Staff say the environment supports FAME’s relationship-focused approach by creating a stronger sense of safety, belonging, and dignity for students – many of whom face significant challenges outside the classroom. Bringing middle and senior classes together on one site has also helped build a more connected school community and given students a stable foundation from which to pursue their goals.
