Get to Know the ADF: Joel Penwarn

Meet Joel!

Since joining the ADF seven years ago, Joel has built a wealth of experience in payment operations and transaction services. As Senior Transaction Services Specialist, he combines deep operational knowledge with a passion for continuous improvement, helping the ADF adapt to an ever-changing banking landscape while maintaining exceptional service for our customers. 

Before joining the ADF, Joel worked across sales, event management and hospitality while completing a business degree. He also taught music and founded a medical supply business. These roles helped Joel develop the strong communication, customer service and organisational skills that enable him to build trusted relationships and deliver positive outcomes for ADF customers every day. 

Throughout his time at the ADF, Joel has been involved in a range of initiatives that have supported our growth and evolution. In 2020, Joel supported significant work to transition payment processing from a largely paper-based environment to digital workflows. The project ensured customers continued to receive reliable service during a challenging period. 

“It was rewarding to be part of a team that adapted quickly and successfully delivered such an important transformation,” Joel said. 

Looking ahead, Joel sees the ADF continuing to evolve as an agile and innovative organisation, responding to the rapidly changing payments landscape while maintaining the personalised service our customers value. 

“As the industry continues to transform, I hope to play a key role in helping drive the ADF forward, improving processes and making it as seamless as possible for both our customers and our people,” he said. 

Outside of work, Joel enjoys surfing, gardening and running a fruit tree nursery on weekends. The nursery combines his love of the outdoors with an entrepreneurial spirit that has followed him throughout his career. 

Most importantly, Joel treasures time with his wife and young son. Whether they’re exploring new places, heading out for a walk or simply enjoying time together.
