Fuelling Customer Mission: St Mary’s Catholic Church, Kingaroy

For more than a century, St Mary’s Church has been the heart of the Kingaroy Catholic Parish, serving as a place of worship and celebration for generations of families in the South Burnett Region.

Construction of the church began in 1908, and it was officially opened the following year by Archbishop James Duhig.

In 2024, the parish embarked on a significant restoration project. With the support of the ADF, this project aimed to ensure the church could continue to not only be a place of worship but also a treasured piece of Kingaroy’s heritage.

As with many timber buildings of its age, ongoing maintenance is vital to retain both its structural integrity and its visual beauty. Weather, time, and the natural ageing of materials have all posed their challenges, but the dedication of the parish and the work being undertaken during this project has ensured that St Mary’s Church will remain a spiritual home for the community.

The ADF is so proud to be a part of this initiative. Projects like this are about more than just preserving buildings, it’s about honouring the stories, traditions and people that make up the life of the Church.

As the restoration continues, it’s a reminder of the importance of preserving not only our places of worship but the legacy and values they represent. For over 116 years, St Mary’s Church has served the faithful of Kingaroy, and because of this project it will continue to do so for many more.
