Introducing Two-Factor Authentication

ADF Online

The Archdiocesan Development Fund (ADF) is committed to providing the highest level of security for our customers and we are pleased to announce the introduction of Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for ADF Online. This new security measure will allow users with full authoriser access to verify their identity using SMS One Time Passwords (OTPs) at login, significantly enhancing the security of both login and payment processes.

Why Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of security by requiring not only a username and password but also a unique OTP delivered directly to a user’s mobile phone. This method ensures that even if someone else is able to gain access to your username and password, they cannot access your account without the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

How It Works

  1. Login Attempt: When a registered 2FA user with full authoriser access attempts to log in to ADF Online, you will enter your username and password as usual.
  1. Receive OTP: An SMS containing a 6-digit OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
  1. Enter OTP: You will need to enter this OTP on the login screen to complete the login process.

Benefits of 2FA

  • Enhanced Security: By requiring an additional verification step, 2FA makes it much harder for unauthorised users to gain access to your account.
  • Protection Against Fraud: This added layer of security helps protect against fraudulent activities, ensuring that your financial transactions are safe and secure.
  • Peace of Mind: Knowing that your account has an extra layer of protection can provide peace of mind, allowing you to focus on your financial goals without worrying about security breaches.

Registering for 2FA

ADF Online users who have full authoriser/account signatory access can register and start using SMS OTP now by following the below steps. Please note, data and enquiry users are not able to register for 2FA at this time.

  • Log in to ADF Online as normal, then select Setup Security Options from the Settings menu
  • Select the mobile number to receive the OTP from the drop-down box and click on Request. If the correct mobile number doesn’t appear, please contact the ADF
  • Confirm you would like to proceed with the setup of SMS OTP by clicking on Submit
  • You are now set up to receive an SMS OTP each time you log in to ADF Online
  • Once registered, you may contact the ADF and we can remove the requirement to enter your date of birth each time you log in

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you introducing 2FA?

We believe that the introduction of 2FA is a crucial step in safeguarding your personal and financial information.

I have data user or enquiry access, can I register for 2FA?

No, data and enquiry users are currently unable to register for 2FA, however we are working on making this security feature available to all user types and expect to have this available in the coming months

I am a full authoriser who has registered for 2FA, do I have to continue to enter my date of birth?

Once you have registered for 2FA, the ADF is able to remove this requirement for you, please contact the ADF to request this.

Is registering and using 2FA on ADF Online mandatory?

At this stage, registering and using 2FA is optional. As the functionality becomes available to data and enquiry users, the ADF will move towards making it mandatory given the considerable security benefits 2FA provides.

What if I have registered for 2FA but change my mobile number?

Simply contact the ADF to provide your updated mobile number and your 2FA can be updated to send your OTP to the new number.

What if I am going somewhere with poor/no mobile reception?

If you are going to a location that has poor or no mobile reception but you think its likely you will need to log into ADF Online whilst you are away, contact the ADF prior to leaving and we can temporarily disable your 2FA until you return.

How will my mobile number be used by the ADF?

The ADF will only use your mobile number to send SMS OTPs or for other critical account information. We will not call or send you any marketing, updates or generic information, nor will we provide your mobile number to any other individual or entity.
